Title: Well written monograph

Review: The authors explained very clearly the concept of rate distortion and its application to video compression. Compared to most information theory books, this book provides a more readable account of the application of rate distortion technique to video compression since the techniques are applied to real world examples. I certainly find this book enjoyable to read.
